I realise that there are some very strong opinions about All-Inclusive Hotels out there - both from local business owners and from people who have had unpleasant experiences staying AI. That said, it has become an important part of Lanzarote's accommodation offer and so I feel that it is about time there was some discussion about which Hotels offer a good product and which ones do not.

So with a view to creating a poll where users can vote, please share your experiences of All-Inclusive Hotels in Lanzarote.

From the posts I've seen on other forums, you'd get more responses by asking for the worst AI hotels!

If you want 'amazing' then you have to pay for it in AI.

At all the AIs standards have been declining year on year.

In the late 1990s they were all of a reasonable standard.

Even the 4 star AIs such as the Barcelo suites at CT and the opposite Occidental Oasis have dropped their standards and in need of upgrading. I wouldn't like to go AI at La Galea as there isn't much room around the pool area.

The Teguise Playa is not bad but has deteriorated over the years.

The Ficus at CT is cheap and cheerful. The Zocos can be a bit mad and busy at the bars and food areas with a shortage of sunbeds near the pools.

But again over the years the standards have dropped with costcutting measures at all of these places.

Entertainment used to be OK at many of these places but now it's almost non existant at some.

I've mixed feelings about AI, but friends of mine stayed in the Los Jameos Playa (spelling?) in Matagorda, and they said it was excellent.

The food, the rooms, the pools, everything.

I think that's the name - it's a big place with timber beams outside :D

Have stayed in Las Costas in PDC/Pocillos for the last 3 years over New Year. First 2 years no complaints, this year got very bad food poisoning and missed 3 days of my holiday stuck in bed. I naturally complained to the management. Was informed that another 8 people had also had the same experience, received a very muted apology and that was it. Never again

I haven't stayed there myself, but I've heard lots of good reports about the Timanfaya Palace for All Inclusive.
