Last time I was in Lanzarote (spring 2011) there seemed to be lots of activities moving earth around to prepare for a golf course near Montana Roja.

Is that course still being worked at?

Cycled past yesterday, no sign of workers and that bit of earth moving you saw in 2011 is all that seems to have happened. The road is closed to cars, so maybe one day it will be completed.

I think all they did was enough to keep the planning consent alive.

hi
Planning permission was granted for this course in 1985.......due to many problems the chances of the course being finished in anyones lifetime are about 1000:1........mind you this is Spain and rules etc. change by the day ;)

Yes, but all the necessary other permissions were only finalised in 2011, which is why there was a flurry of activity then.

Has anyone heard if there is any news on whether they are progressing the golf course?

No, because I don't think they are.

Golf course  (sorry bit of waste land that has going to be one since 1985 :P ) still at a stand-still,no work on it since a couple of years ago......probably due to the recession....lack of investment money for a speculative build that at the moment there is no need for.
For work to be resumed I would think it would need a large increase in tourists to make it financially viable......be sure to ask again.......in say 5 years :o
There is a mini-golf just behind the bus station though.........never see anyone there either :(

Sorry I am a little bit late, but five years have passed now. Surely the Golf course must be ready

Other than that, where I assume nothing happens, what is going on in Playa Blanca? I guess the harbour is the big thing but there seems to be quite much building activity all around.
