There's a street called Calle Cesar Manrique at the end of Calle Benidorm. Walk down towards the beach on this street and there's a big-ish supermarket there near the bottom on the right-hand-side.

Are there any big supermarkets in PDC for foodstuffs?

There is/was a medium sized one on the right going up Calle Reina Sofia, that sells fresh meats and stuff like BBQs and charcoal.

Most of the 'supermarkets' I have seen in PDC are pokey little shops with overpriced items.

AFAIK theres's hardly anything up Matagorda way.

It's one of the reasons we tend to stay in CT or even PB.

We know where the big supermarkets are on the island, down Playa Honda way, but we don't always hire a car.

Mind you, none of the supermarkets are as dear as they are on Fuerte.

I don;'t know Carmen too well, but there is a big enough Eurospar up from the Burkis roundabout in Macher.

There are at least four good supermarkets in Matagorda and mostly cheaper than the big Hiperdino in Deiland Centre !!!

Plenty of good "large" Supermarkets in PDC.
I normally stay at New Town end of the strip. The Spar on the corner of Avenida Italia has a great range of fresh meats, fruit and veg every day. Reasonable prices too if you buy the local Canarian produce. If you're gonna go for Kellogs,HP,Magners or any of those products you get back home then be prepared to pay extra.
There's a little shop on the opposite side of the street heading back towards the Old Town.
Francescas!!! Great little shop with cakes and pastries to die for. Not recommended if you're watching the waistline or cholecterol levels. And just up from there you have Yum Yums! Name says it all!!
I'm away to check my print out to check our departure date in Summer!!! Roll on June!

Is it worth the hassle of getting to Macher roundabout or Deiland Centre by taxi/bus from Los Pocillos for a weeks shop or could we get everything we need at a decent price closer. I know the Spar on the corner of Italia but anticipate not being able to everything we need or too expensive! Maybe even the large supermarket in Old Town would be worth trip in taxi instead ?.............thanks in advance
