You do realise that 12 months is not classed as a ´´holiday´´ and you will be required to register as a resident after 90 days and also as tax resident after 183 days ( meaning you will be taxed at the current Spanish rate on all your income AND property ----world-wide----there are no exceptions here)...also as long term accommodation at the moment is as rare as ´´rocking-horse pooh´´ that also has to be taken into consideration, and what there is left is at the very top of the scale..starting around 600€ per month, for a studio or small one -bedroom apartment, plus electric..plus water....to be in a resort starts around 700€ per month long term ! (IF you can find any !!! )

Also you will both require private medical insurance for the term of your stay as unless you work here OR are officially retired you cannot use the State Health Service..unless you opt to pay into the ¨¨Convenio Especial...which costs 60€ per month per person and allows access to BASIC health care but not certain treatments or prescription costs which have to be paid in full

The cost of registering (if you do not speak Spanish) can be expensive and is extremely bureaucratic....and can take a while..but failing to do so renders you liable to deportation.......good luck with your search...but you really need to research this much more before making a decision..it is not just about sun, beer and cheap accommodation...in fact even the beer has increased as more people come here after being ´´re-routed´´ from less ´´safe´´destinations such as Tunisia,Egypt and recently Turkey too.As regards the sun, it is not as reliable due to global warming.. 10 years ago when I moved here there were about 12 to 15 ´´wet´´ days in the year...this last year there has been more than 30 to 40 :?
