Hi, we are going to Playa Blanca on Sun 19 Jan for 6 weeks and the property we have rented doesnt have Internet cover. When I go to Oz I can buy a sim for my ipad to use over there. Does anyone know if Telefonica or any phone shop in P.B. have them. Also will our UK Sky card work if we bring it as the owner has Sky Entertainment Pack but not other Sky packages we have at home like Sports.

Hi
Yes all 3 major networks (Movistar/Orange/Vodafone) have shops in PB and it is possible to buy a Sim card from any of them (on production of your Passport and a temporary address in Spain)HOWEVER you will find that mobile data costs here are amongst the highest in Europe (if not the world) so you do not get much time for your money.....best using a ¨¨WiFi´¨ zone in one of the bars or restaurants for the cost of a drink or coffee or two.
Your second point about Sky(technically it is illegal to receive this service in Spain) is an interesting one.......many many Sky channels here have recently moved to a new satellite so can no longer be received in the Canary Isles.....so although you may bring your card do not be surprised if you still only receive 4 or 5 basic channels....and even them only intermittently :(

IF the entertainment channels on sky are recieveable and like lanzalocal says it's hit and miss at the moment you'll need to pair the card with the box by calling sky from a UK number (or with holding the number) and give them the card details and the unique sky box details. Not sure how that'll work when you presumeably want to re-pair it to your uk box??
